Firearm Basics & Safety

Frequently asked questions

New to firearms, nervous around them, or just want to train smarter? Start with the questions below.

Do I need my own firearm?
No, we provide firearms for training purposes, including trainer replicas and live firearms for range qualifications. However, we recommend investing in your own firearm so you can become familiar with its specific function and handling.
Can you help me choose a firearm?
Yes. We offer a personalized firearm consultation for $150 per hour to help you select the right gun for your body, skill level, and real-world needs.
How old do I need to be to purchase a firearm?
In many states, the minimum age is 18 for rifles and 21 for handguns, but laws vary. Always check your specific state and local regulations before purchasing.
How long do I have to wait to obtain a firearm?
Federal law doesn’t mandate a waiting period, but some states do. Always confirm current rules where you live.
What is the purpose of dry-firing, and why invest time in it?
Dry-firing helps you build the muscle memory you need for safe, confident shooting—presenting the firearm, aligning the sights, applying smooth trigger pressure, and reloading efficiently. Elite shooters spend thousands of hours dry-firing because it dramatically improves performance when you move to live-fire on the range.
I hate firearms and I’m afraid of them. Can you help?
Absolutely. You don’t have to like firearms to learn how to stay safe around them. Many of our students feel the same way but train with us to overcome fear, build confidence, and gain essential safety skills.

We never pressure anyone to own a firearm—we simply believe that if a gun is in your environment, you should know how to handle it safely. Our training is designed to help you feel more comfortable, stay in control, and reduce fear through education and hands-on learning.

Whether you want to learn firearm safety, self-defense, or situational awareness, we’re here to help in a way that’s judgment-free and empowering.
