“We Were the Good Girls” – Why Abduction Prevention Training Isn’t Optional Anymore

We were brought up right.
We got good grades. We had rules in high school, and for the most part, we followed them.
But once we hit college? That’s when the rules stopped and real life began.

For the first time, we were truly on our own.
No curfews.
No parents waiting up.
Just our own instincts… and a lot of trial and error.

We took drinks from strangers on spring break.
We met guys no one else knew and left parties without telling a soul.
We stayed out too late, walked home alone, and woke up the next day saying,
“Wow. We’re lucky we made it.”

The truth? It wasn’t luck. It was chance.
And it could’ve gone the other way.

We partied in Panama City Beach, Cancun, South Padre Island—where the alcohol was flowing, the music was loud, and no one was checking on anyone. We didn’t have a plan. We had fun… and we had no clue how dangerous some of it really was.

And today? College students are still doing all of that, just in new places and with even higher risks.
Ski trips where drinking hits harder at high altitude.
Nashville—as fun as it is—where it’s too easy to get separated from your group and end up vulnerable in the crowd.
Miami, where the party scene is no joke and drugs are easier to come by than water.

And just like us, they’re good kids.
They were raised right.
But the world doesn’t care how good you are.

1 in 3 women will be sexually assaulted in their lifetime.
Tampa Bay is the third highest market in the U.S. for human trafficking.
And let’s stop pretending this only happens to “other people’s” daughters.

Because it happens fast. And when it does, the police aren’t coming in time.
You’ve got to be able to save yourself.

That’s why Weapon Brand is hosting a hands-on, real-world Abduction Prevention & Self-Defense class that teaches early threat detection, how to fight back, how to escape, and how to survive.

It’s not just for college students.
It’s for every woman who has ever walked to her car with keys between her fingers.
For every mom who wants her daughter to have more than just “street smarts.”
For every person who doesn’t want to be a victim.

It’s not about fear. It’s about readiness.
This is what it means to Be Your OWN Weapon.

PS – Yes, this class is for men too. Because safety isn’t gendered.
